What DeLand & West Volusia Parents Are Saying About Our Homeschool Pods

Commonly Asked Questions:

Is this a full‑time school or a homeschool support program?

This is a homeschool learning center. You stay the primary educator, and we provide a school‑like experience three days a week. K–8 students come Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9–2 for hands‑on, project‑based classes, social time, and support from certified teachers.

Can I really use my PEP/UA or other Step Up scholarship here?

Yes. The Welcome Place Learning Center is a Step Up Direct Provider. Most of our families use PEP/UA or other Step Up funds to cover tuition. If you’re new to scholarships, we’ll walk you through how to apply your funds to our pods.

Do I have to commit for the whole semester? What if it isn’t a fit?

Pods run on a semester schedule starting January 7, and seats are limited. When you reserve a spot, we hold a seat in your child’s grade, then invite you to tour and ask questions before finalizing enrollment. If after your visit you feel it’s not the right fit, we simply release the spot to the next family on our list.

What days, times, and location do the pods meet?

K–8 pods meet on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at The Welcome Place Learning Center, 5 Ruckert Circle, DeLand, FL 32720.

What will my child work on during the pod days?

Students work on language arts, science, social studies, and math support through hands‑on, project‑based activities. Along the way they also build critical thinking, communication, teamwork, and confidence, with plenty of time for friends and outdoor play.

What if we already have our own homeschool curriculum?

That’s totally fine. Many families use our pods to add structure, accountability, and social time on M/W/F, while continuing their own curriculum at home on the other days. We’re designed to complement, not replace, your homeschool plan.
